Supplement Radar

It’s time to keep an eye on the multi-billion dollar wellness industry.

If you’ve taken ANY sort of ‘wellness’ product in the last six (6) months and it didn’t agree with you, we want to hear about it.

We are a team of independent scientists who want better consumer protection in this area, so we’ve created a crowd sourced Australian database of wellness products and their adverse reactions.

Every month we collate our results and can send you our data wrap (if you opt in). If we receive any concerning reports, or numerous reports for the same supplement, we will use our data to:

  • Report to the relevant bodies, eg. Food Standards Australia New Zealand or Therapeutic Goods Administration AND/OR
  • Arrange for the product to be independently tested AND/OR
  • Collate research proposals for nutrition scientists to investigate these effects in more detail, under partnership with Universities. This may help uncover mechanisms behind why some people experience side-effects, while others don’t.

Your data safety

Participation in our data service is voluntary and you can withdraw your consent at any time.

Reported data regarding side effects from supplement use will be stored securely in accordance with Australian privacy and health requirements.

The information will be treated with confidentiality and used solely for the purpose of analysing and reporting adverse effects associated with supplement use.

Any data being shared with relevant authorities is only done in a de-identified format, ensuring any of your personal information remains anonymous.

This data tool is administered through Gut Science, but is a passion project part of our business, as we strongly believe in contributing our knowledge to benefit consumers.

We would love it if you could please consider supporting our work. Any funds received will be used to compile our monthly data newsletters, reporting and/or testing required 🙂
